The Municipal District Council of Prague 2 agreed on its session 20.7.2010 to the study introducing possibilities of holding the farmers markets on Tylovo náměstí. The Council members also agreed to the works on project documentation to be started. They agreed this way tu the increasing popularity of markets with fresh agriculture products in Prague.
In Prague 2 the market has been running on Rašínovo nábřeží every Saturday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Tylovo náměstí was chosen from the selected localities (also náměstí Míru and Karlovo náměstí were discussed) as the most suitable for the reason. Prague 2 is a part of the Prague Monument Preservation Area, where the rules for holding such events are different.
The aim of the study therefore was choosing the right locality, as well as practical and aesthetic solution to the market stands, corresponding to the other city mobiliary. The discussed localities were compared in term of their situation, area, historical tradition and local customs.
According to these conditions, Tylovo náměstí was chosen as the most acceptable. Moreover, historical documents evidence, that this square was traditional market place, catering the entire Vinohrady. Up to the end of 19th century, it was known as Market square.
For the needs of farmers market some changes need to be done - instalation of underground waste containers, new design of water components, and above all layout of at least twelve universal market stands.
